My son Asher, his beautiful girlfriend Gabby, my niece Cassie and I ventured out of town for a photo session. I love the town Grand Rapids MN, it has cute little shops, lots of antique stores and a darling little coffee shop, which was the inspiration for this session. It's been years since I've photographed Asher, the "No Way Mom", teenage years is what I'm going through right now... My guess is he must really adore Gabby to have agreed to do this, ha! Gabby is an absolute doll... It was so cold, the wind was fierce that day, so getting in some niece portraits was near to impossible, tears were streaming down their faces. S I hope to have Gabby come into the studio for a few shots so I can capture her gorgeous eyes and smile in the next few weeks... Thank you to Cassie for coming along, good thing she was there too... She tied Asher's tie, you'd think living with FIVE dudes I'd be a pro at that, but sadly I have no idea how to do it... ENJOY

This was truly a dream session for me, my best friend Nikki and our kids Reece and Callahan. Okay maybe not a dream come true for Reece, but he was a great sport in making my dream come true. It's no secret I have a love for the 1950's. Callahan bought this amazing vintage 1950's dress for a dance, when I saw it my heart skipped a beat. I just knew I had to plan a session, so Nikki and I went into planning mode. It wasn't until the night before that while on my way to the gas station for some chocolate that I saw the most amazing 1950's car parked on the street, in my favorite color nonetheless. I was like that girl in the IKEA commercial but instead of shouting start the car I was screaming stop the car. In no time I found the owners Ruth Ann and John and they really are the kindest couple ever. They drove that beauty all the way from North Carolina, I like to think it was just for me tee hee hee... They washed it up so it had an extra sparkle, met us and allowed us to use it in the session. I could barely hold the camera steady I was shaking with complete excitement the entire time. Callahan my sweet pretend daughter is an absolute gem to photograph, her eyes and smile are so captivating and her personality is just something else, kind, thoughtful and so very caring. She really needs to be in the movies, she's so gifted musically, can sing so beautifully and act as well. Her and Reece are just great friends, that's what makes this fun, watching them joke and laugh, it's a nice a feeling knowing they have each others backs in this world. This was just the most lovely engagement session, the weather was gorgeous and this couple, well they are just so incredibly sweet and perfect together. It was just a happy session, I like to call them fresh love, they really are best friends and simply adore each other. It really shows in their photographs. They are like the most amazing ice cream sundae with extra heaps of toppings, you can't help but feel happy around them. I look forward to their winter wonderland wedding this December.

Oh my word these two cutie pies just blew me away... I've photographed both of them separately in the past and thought it sure would be awesome to get them together for a session because of their similar personalities. They are both just complete hams in front of the camera, full of personality and love... It was literally seconds of meeting each other for the first time that they became fast friends... It took little convincing to get them to pose for me, I basically just gave them a few props and just captured it. It was an evening that I and both mother's hearts just melted... Too bad for the darn giant man eating bugs, we had to cut it short. I was able to grab a few more of them the other night, so stay tuned for round two.

I Had the most lovely time with my gorgeous niece Sarah, the evening light was so dreamy and the wild flowers are out in abundance. Sarah is pure sweetness, a talented dancer and guitar player, photographing her was a real treat and I wish I could steal her away every weekend, because once every few years is just not enough for me.

Styled Sessions

I was asked recently by a company if I was interested in doing a few styled winter/Christmas

sessions of father daughter and mother son portraits. Of course I jumped on this amazing

opportunity, it was so much fun, my models were and are absolutely adorable.

I cannot wait to see some of these images in circulation next year.

I am very thankful to have been given this gift and also thank you to my ever so

sweet models Bruce Lidkea with his beautiful daughter Piper and my lovely cousin

We had a heck of a bitter cold winter, I managed to get out lots simply because the light was just too beautiful not to. It was without painfully cold fingers and models that's for sure.

I'd like to thank my gorgeous models for their time, Jessie Marken, Cassie Langrehr (my stunning niece), Cassandra (my little pretend daughter), my hubby who is so AWESOME,

because he wears pink for me and I posed for a few...

Vintage Yellow Dress

I think that playing dress-up begins at age five and never ends...

I have been looking for a vintage yellow dress for sometime and I finally found one, I love it...

I couldn't wait to photograph it, so I had some fun in the studio twirling and just playing.

I went through some of my folders and found some pretty Spring pictures from last year

that I honestly forgot I took...

I will be adding some new print collections to my Society6 shop in the next few days.

These two are so adorable, I just love them to bits and pieces...

They are are expecting their first baby this July, our plan was to do

this session before Christmas and have their Christmas card announcing

that they were expecting...

But the cold temperatures and busy schedules just kept getting in the way.

I simply adore the dress, coat and boats Danielle choose for the session that

we just had to do this session any ways, better late than never.

Let me tell you, it was COLD when we did this session,

when we got onto the river the wind was unreal, so needless to say we were

not out there too long. I wish the weather would have been better so I could

have had more time capturing them two skating, they just looked so cute...

Poor Neil, those vintage skates were terrible to skate in,

but he sure did a great job skating in those babies.

My beautiful granddaughter came for a visit over the holidays, best gift ever!

I can hardly believe eight weeks has past since I saw her last.

She has changed so much, her little personality is so sweet,

she loves to tell lots of stories and when she smiles she lights up the whole room.

Her little dimples just melt me to pieces...

She truly is the most delicious baby girl I have ever laid my eyes on...

There are no words to express just how much I love her.

I will honor Christmas in my HEART, and try to keep it all year round...

Buddy the Elf

My handsome son and his beautiful girlfriend Lisa came for a visit over the holidays,

I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph these two, it's been years since

I photographed Jaden, he's been away at college and work.

The temperature was so bitter, why on the prettiest winter days does it have to be sooooo cold?

They were troopers and toughed it out, we went in and warmed a lot,

their poor toes were frozen solid.

I simply adore the color palette we choose for their session,

looks so pretty with the golden light.

I will treasure this memory and these photo's!

Isabel was born October 24th in a small town outside of Ottawa, she weighed 8 pounds and was 21 inches long. She is my beautiful granddaughter and I love her so dearly. Your whole world changes the moment you watch one of your own babies become a parent, I felt so many emotions watching my son Jaden and his very lovely girlfriend Lisa meet, hold and simply adore their baby girl. They are wonderful parents, Jaden has been busy the past 6 months preparing for the arrival of his daughter. He would call and say his Amazon order came in and I would automatically assume it was computer parts or a new GPS, but it was either cute baby girl clothes, a state of the art baby monitor, a crib and a swing. He's something special this boy cause I don't remember my husband being all excited over a crib, ha! Now he's been searching on etsy for the perfect baby book for her, I'm not sure I know of any other man who has done an entire baby book on his own.

I was so excited I was able to be there on Isabel's birth day, my mom and I booked our flights and headed to Ottawa together, which was an adventure in it self because we are both very dependent on others while travelling to say the least. So embarking on this journey with her is something I will treasure always. My mom and dad were and are like another set of parents to Jaden, their love for Jaden and their great granddaughter Isabel is special and I am so thankful for them. I wish I could have packed up my sister Sheri and brought her along too, cause she was a huge part of Jaden's life growing up, so I call her grandma too! It was such a pleasure meeting Lisa's family, they were so welcoming it felt like we've known them for ever.

Isabel is so beautiful, perfect in every way. She has the biggest eyes and the cutest dimples I have ever seen. Pretty pink lips and long runner's feet (I think), maybe we will run a marathon together one day! I could hardly keep my eyes off her! I look forward to watching her grow and reach all her milestones, celebrating birthdays, buying all things pink and girly. Jaden's dad and 3 brothers are looking forward to meeting this bundle of sweetness too, it will be beyond exciting to have some girls around the house over the holidays... All these photo's were taken at the hospital, only a few days old... I can hardly wait to see her at Christmas and photograph her with her beautiful mommy in the studio, yes I am already planning it... can't help myself! enjoy... xo

Life is better in PINK

cotton candy, lips, balloons, little presents with BIG bows, jammies, diamonds, champagne, puffy clouds at sunset, cupcakes, sweet peas, roses and jasmine...

A few years ago I was given an old rusty truck to use for photo's, I decided to give it a makeover and the old rusty truck soon became a pretty pink color. I brought a 1950's pink measuring cup to the hard ware store to help choose the perfect shade of pink. What's interesting is depending on the lighting and the edit of the picture, the truck can actually look like about 5 different shades of pink. I could hardly wait to see how it would look in photo's, so I sweetly asked the hubby if he would come and pose for a few pictures. So out we went with the tripod and camera remote, it's always a job and a half taking selfies, but I love all the imperfections because it was time spent with the one person I simply adore the most in life. I also am so excited that after a few years of searching I finally found a vintage pink schwinn bike. I had to sneak in the garage because my husband told me "No more bikes" but I just couldn't resist it.

I am so excited to share these images... I came across a new location and when you live in a very small town finding a new location is pretty much like finding gold. Stephanie is such a sweet girl, when talking to her about her senior session I mentioned to her that I had a few ideas and she was so willing to allow me to style a part of her session and be creative. I am so grateful for clients who allow me to express my creativity and help bring my visions to life. She really was the perfect model, okay I'm going to just say it... she has the best legs ever! Aside from these we took a ton of other portraits which express her fun personality, she had some fun ideas of her own which I'm also just as excited to share... xo

The Sweetest Day

Oh my goodness what a deliciously sweet session with two of my favorite little girls. I've been collecting vintage kitchen bowls, etc for over a year now, I just love all the pastel colors from the 1950's era. I could hardly wait to do a vintage baking session, my bestie Nikki helped me plan this for months, she found the sweetest little dresses on etsy and she came along with the cutest pink rolling pin as a little gift, which I completely adore. I made my first lattice pies the night before, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, thank you YouTube for the awesome instructional videos. I am by no means handy in the kitchen, I blame it on my old stove, ha! I am so proud of these two models, Cassandra is only just turned 3, she is so sweet and easy to photograph. Watching these sisters together melts my heart, there is just so much love between them. It certainly is a day I won't forget and I'm excited to have a few of these images printed for my kitchen. xo

Another fantastic session with these two AMAZING siblings... Oh my gosh what characters, I've been photographing them since they were newborns and every year just gets better and better. They truly have such a special relationship, so loving, yet there is such a fun goofy side as well. These two need to be in show biz, they love the camera and the camera LOVES them... We did a few different styles, Stephanie (mom) always comes with oodles of outfits for me to choose from, yay for me... Enjoy! xo
