This precious little girl was born on Christmas Day... the best gift a mother could receive. She came to visit me when she was only nine days old. She is the most delicious newborn ever. Lots of smiles already, she slept so soundly throughout the whole session. Lisa I am so thrilled that you have another daughter, Kennedy and her will make lots of fun memeories together. Congratulations guys!

One of my pictures was selected by Caribou Coffee (hoot hoot) to be displayed in their stores over the holiday season. I was so thrilled I can't even begin to tell you. When we went shopping in Duluth the picture hung in the middle of the mall and I just couldn't believe it. I have to thank my son for being the shoe model in this picture, he was pretty stoked.

May I have this skate...

What a fun session.... it was freezing though! The sun was out in the morning and by the time I was done curling her hair it had clouded over and the temp had dropped. But we do live in Minnesota/Ontario we should be use to COLD temperatures, tee hee hee!
I got a book for Christmas called fun with plastic cameras, the processing of this session was inspired by all the wonderful photos displayed in that book. Lots of grain, light leaks and vingettes.

When I first looked at this session I got the shivers, I was just taken away with the emotion the children displayed. This session was inspired by my friend Nikki, she asked me if I would do a nativity session with her children for her mother as a Christmas gift. At first I was a bit nervous, it was so different from anything I had ever done before. I like to try new things and this is so very different from my usual style. I enjoyed every second of this session, there is so much meaning and love. I know grandma will be in tears when she looks at her photo book for the first time. Nikki you and your children are amazing, thanks for allowing me to take part in this, I will treasure this session forever! Merry Christmas, xox

My husband is taking the day off work tomorrow and we are heading to Duluth MN to do our Christmas shopping, yes another year we have left it until the last minute. I am not sure how we are going to shop for four boys in one day.... eeeeeeks that sounds so scary to me... What a doll... Teagan has the most contagious smile and giggle ever! smart as a whip too, she isn't even two and she talks up a storm. I LOVE her dress, absolutely gorgeous. Not even 24hrs after this session the ground was covered in snow, so glad I was able to have one last session with all the beautiful fall golden tones.

Her Very First Pony Tail

Sweet Baby Cassandra, everytime she comes for a visit her mom and I have some fun in the studio. I got some new backdrops to get me through the winter months, I wanted to try some of them out. We feed off eachother, it is so great to have another person in my life who shares the same passion for photography. We have dreamed up so many sessions for the winter, I can hardly wait.

I was online shopping late one night a few weeks back with my girlfriend, I came across this fun dress from ModCloth called Rosehill Lane Dress, after reading the description in the shopping cart it went. Made me feel HAPPY!

DESCRIPTION

There's a winding little residential road at the north end of town where all the yards are lined with rose bushes. Sometimes, when you need a pick-me-up, you stroll down this quiet cul-de-sac. But for those days when you can't make it out, you slip on this gorgeous white dress by Pinup Couture with a cropped-sleeve blazer, patent pumps, and a blooming headband, and suddenly you feel refreshed. Crafted from a satiny cotton blend, and featuring vintage-inspired cut of a notched collar, a cinched waist with red patent belt, and full, flirty skirt, this fetching frock and its painterly rose print reminds of the beauty that lies on Rosehill Lane.

I could not wait to see how it would photograph, I did a few self timer shots in the studio for fun.... It's always a good workout doing these..... Anyways I hope to find a model and plan a styled session this winter using this dress.

Sweet little Aksel, such a treat to snuggle with! He had four ladies all awwwwwing over him. I think his first words will be "Oh my goodness how sweet"... we all must have said that a million times. When I do newborn sessions I have my mom come over, she is known as the baby whisperer. She sure is wonderful at getting them to sleep and positioning them for me, it makes it so much easier having an extra set of hands. She is just as excited to see the pictures as I am. If there has been one session that has truly touched my heart this is the one. I've been saving this session so I could share it with you during Breast Cancer Awareness month. A few months back a got a knock on my door, it happened to be this wonderful lady Christie. She began to tell me her story, with tears filling her eyes... That she had been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. My heart just broke into pieces. She was wondering if I would take her pictures, that it had been forever since she had any professional portraits done and wanted to have some taken for her children. Of course I was more than happy to do this, it would give me the chance to spend some time with her and get to know better. This gal has so much positive energy and has an amazing zest for life. She LOVES her 3 beautiful grown children and her little granddaughter more than anything in this world. She has fight in her and I know this will just be a chapter in her life. She brought along some personal things that mean alot to her. One being a violin her mother got when she was only thirteen years old, something she treasures as a keepsake to remember her mother by and a favorite photo of her three children. We laughed, joked and just had a great time together. I pray for her every night and I know she would greatly appreciate as much support and prayers as she could get. So tonight when you are saying your prayers can PLEASE say one for her. Thank You!

This has to be one of my all time favorite sessions... Okay maybe it's because I LOVE them to bits and pieces and they truly have become such great friends, it is such a gift that they allow me to capture this budding friendship on camera. Nikki my best friend {Callahan's mom} and I had so much fun planning this, not only did the two kids laugh alot so did we and it's just what we both have needed. We both adore the 50's era, from the clothes to the music, well just everything about the 50's to be honest with you. This session is round two, the first session we did was with a red poodle skirt. I'm sure these two are still dancing, they truly are a match made in heaven. I can't express enough just how perfect Drew and Athena are together, a perfect fit. This little cutie pie just started school, she is the baby of her family. We all know if you are a mother, how hard it is to send your last kiddlet off to school. So Joanne called me and asked if I would do an off to school session and I was totally game because I have a vintage school desk I've been wanting to use for over a year now and she brought a lot of neat props along as well. But wouldn't you know it, the day of the session we were having terrible wind and rain storms. Okay, what C U T E kidz... seriously cute! I've done portraits of these kiddos since they were newborns and every year it just gets more fun. I have enjoyed watching them grow from year to year and their amazingly funny personalities develope. I am guessing there is never a dull moment in their household. Love the funny faces Serena is always doing, she is on the move all the time, watch me Kimberly do this and that... from twirling to jumping... I love it! Poor mom is always telling little curly-q Serena to keep her tongue in her mouth and smile pretty for the camera, but honestly I adore it when she makes her faces, it makes me smile a whole bunch! This year I went to their home and what a nice treat it was, they have the most amazing yard, with a beautiful creek. Not far is the cutest general store that we went to, the owner live right beside it and came out and gave the kids packs of gum, they were thrilled. I can hardly wait for next year...

I brought my camera into the fair and started taking pictures and thought to myself.... what am I doing lugging this huge camera around when I should be going on all these rides with my boys, so I ran the camera back to the car and enjoyed the rest of the day with them...

A wonderful day with Sarah and little Miss London {smarty pants}... this little girl is so smart, she cracks me up. Such big words come out of her tiny little self. Sarah and I both needed a shopping day, so when we were discussing her session I came up with the idea of doing both, shopping and picture taking... The perfect day in my mind!
and it was, so many wonderful and new locations to explore. We started off by stopping at the beach for a quick swim, hit some gorgeous fields, an old gas station, some shopping {dressed in PINK of course} and ended the day with some Dairy Queen ice cream.

I should have taken a picture of her fast asleep in her car seat on the way home.... tee hee hee...

I had to title this session the Armstrong Gang, Chelsey {mom}, myself and our mutual and good friend Nikki who came along to help all share the same last name ARMSTRONG and we are not related in anyway what so ever... how cool is that! What a fun evening this was, Chelsey you have such handsome and very co-operative little men on your hands and your daughter is the cutest, her eyelashes are to die for. I enjoyed meeting you, thanks for making the trip down to Rainy.

My Sister's Rose Garden

This is my beautiful niece Addy dressed so pretty in a vintage dress and hat in my sister's rose garden. I am dedicating this post to my sister Sheri who I miss so much. Wish she lived next door to me... She is the most beautiful person inside and out, she has been there for me my whole life, always so giving. I could seriously write pages and pages of all the things she has given and done for me in my lifetime. Aspenn felt like a princess the second she put on this amazing 1950's prom dress I found a while back. She loves to perform for the camera too, I really did feel like I was dreaming this whole session. I would wake up at four in the morning to photograph this little girl, that's how awesome she is.

Both Dan and Jennifer are photographers in the area, Jennifer contacted me and asked if I would be their photographer at their wedding. Gosh I was so nervous to say yes, but thought it would be fun to hang out with two other photographers for the day. Then she told me they were having a traditional Ojibwe wedding and I was so excited. She explained how she had been planning this wedding for over a year and was doing all the bead work her self. When I finally got to see what she had been so busy working on I was totally blown away. She is so talented and is a very gifted artist. All the details were so perfectly done. The ceremony was pure magical, so loving and tender. I loved the songs and the drums, it gave me chills, it was that amazing. I am so thrilled that I got to be apart of this and witness this unique event. Thank you so much for allowing me to capture your day, I wish you both so much happiness in your life together. What a beautiful evening it was, I enjoyed not only the warm evening sunshine, but the warm hearts these young ladies have. Gorgeous girls, full of spirit, energy, laughter and love. Monkey See Monkey Do...
I've known Shana my whole life, she now lives in Newfoundland with her husband and three gorgeous children, but when ever she comes home for visit she always gives me a call to do some photo's. I feel so honored that she does that. I know she is surrounded by fantastic photographers, she makes me feel so special, thank you for that Shana... You a wonderful person, mother and friend, always making sure everyone around you is happy, such a giver. She had no expectations for the session, her and her husband love the candids and real life capture's. Which made me feel more relaxed, I was nervous because having had four children close together I know kids can dance to their own tune sometimes. Everything went wonderful, we managed to capture a few fun picture's.

We went on a mini road trip to take my son and niece to the lake for a swim and while we were there we came across and small antique car show. Oh how I wished I owned a 1950's pink car. Like the one Elvis Presley bought for his mother. I told my boys if they ever win the lottery to buy me a PINK 50's car, ha ha! My dream is to live in a little white cottage with a white picket fence. For yrs my sister and I would drive past this house and just sigh... It's located an hour from where I live, but everytime I pass it I want to stop. Well I finally did and the lady who owns this pretty little cottage is such a sweet heart. She gave my good friend and I a tour of her whole entire place. I was too busy visiting and looking to take many picture's, but she invited me back and said I could use her house and yard anytime, so I have been dreaming up sessions I would love to do there.

My cousin Madeline is the proud momma of this handsome little guy... This was my first outdoor newborn session and it went so well considering it was 90plus degrees outside. There was so much pollen this year, it looked like it was snowing... I LOVE sessions like this, all just in the fun of photography. Every year the day after my husband is done work for the summer, we usually headout for a one day road trip to Grand Forks... This year he surprised me by booking a room in the Twin Cities {not at the Rex Hotel, ha ha I just love that sign, at the Hilton} for the night because he saw an ad in the newspaper for a LARGE Antique/Flee market and thought that would be a blast. I am super excited, I am so glad I married a guy who loves to shop, he is just as much into antiques, flee markets, old diner's, retro anything as I am. His dream is to buy a retro motorcycle, ha ha! maybe one day as long as it's turquoise! Anyways I was reading the ad today and wouldn't know it, I got inspired to do a session. What a guy I have, comes home from work and I put to him back to work, love you honey! We head tomorrow, cannot wait!

A cute little place my girlfriend and I went to over the weekend... It is the cutest little restaurant, a place I've driven by so many times and never had the opportunity to actually stop and enjoy. First off I absolutely LOVE their names, too sweet! These two cutie's are real troopers, it was raining, cold and windy... June has been so crazy weather wise, seriously wearing a winter jacket in June is uncalled for, who do I call about this matter????? ha ha! Well we made it work and the girls were fabulous, I made sure to bring some fun stuff to keep their minds off the coldness, maybe I should have brought hot chocolate rather than watermelon though! These two are super close to eachother, they have a little sister coming in a few weeks, how fun will that be. Now mom can buy 3 matching dresses, ha ha!
